A Working Meeting Was Held on the Zoom Platform Within the Framework of Project AR26199673
On April 27, 2026, a regular working meeting was organized within the framework of the scientific project AR26199673 titled “Environmental Assessment of Technogenic Soil Pollution in Almaty City Using GIS Technologies.” The online meeting brought together researchers and specialists involved in the project, where key directions of upcoming scientific work were discussed.
During the meeting, particular attention was given to determining and assessing the level of heavy metal contamination in the soil cover of Almaty city. Issues such as analyzing the concentration of heavy metals in soils, identifying their spatial distribution patterns, and zoning territories based on pollution levels were considered.
In addition, tasks related to the development of a series of maps characterizing the ecological condition of soils using modern GIS technologies, as well as the creation of an integrated assessment map, were discussed. These maps will enable a more accurate evaluation of the environmental situation in the city and help identify high-risk areas.
These activities represent an important direction of scientific research carried out at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences, UNESCO Chair in Sustainable Development.
