An Academic Council meeting was held on April 27, 2026, at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences.

The meeting focused on discussing key aspects of the faculty’s educational, research, and organizational activities. In line with the agenda, particular attention was given to the implementation of the university’s strategic priorities, modernization of academic programs, enhancement of their competitiveness, and alignment with labor market demands.

Special emphasis was placed on strengthening international cooperation, expanding academic mobility, attracting foreign faculty members, and increasing the number of English-taught programs. The importance of improving research quality and increasing participation in international projects and grant programs was also highlighted.

A significant agenda item included the consideration of a roadmap for the introduction of three-year bachelor’s degree programs for 2027–2029. The key stages of implementation were discussed, aiming to modernize curricula, enhance flexibility in the learning process, and strengthen the practical orientation of education.

Additionally, the results of the analysis of academic programs were presented, justifying the need to optimize low-demand and less competitive programs. This approach is expected to improve educational quality and ensure efficient resource allocation.

The meeting also addressed the results of the expert review of PhD dissertation topics. The need to revise and improve the topics based on expert feedback, as well as to enhance their scientific novelty and practical relevance, was emphasized.

As a result of the meeting, a set of decisions was adopted to further advance the faculty’s academic and research performance.
