The Department of Fundamental Medicine Conducted a Tick-Borne Encephalitis Prevention Campaign within the Framework of the SDGs

Event Report: Department of Fundamental Medicine Driving SDGs through Tick-Borne Encephalitis Prevention

The Department of Fundamental Medicine has successfully conducted a public health outreach program targeting Almaty residents, schoolchildren, and university students. This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being and SDG 4: Quality Education).

As Almaty remains a high-risk area for tick-borne encephalitis, our students and faculty took proactive steps to educate the community on biological risks and prevention strategies. The campaign focused on several key pillars:

· Health Advocacy: Volunteers shared evidence-based insights into the symptoms of encephalitis, protection methods, and the necessity of timely medical intervention.

· Resource Distribution: We provided participants with educational leaflets containing emergency protocols.

· Youth Engagement: Interactive sessions with schoolchildren helped foster a sense of responsibility regarding safety measures during outdoor activities.

The Department of Fundamental Medicine remains committed to bridging the gap between academic excellence and social responsibility.
