On April 28, 2026, first-year master’s students of the “Regional Studies” program presented their projects at a scientific-practical session titled “Regional Strategies for Sustainable Development.” During the session, the students presented projects focusing on the comparative analysis of various regional strategies for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
In particular, master’s student D. Velikova, who arrived under the academic mobility program from Sciences Po (France), presented a project on the comparative analysis of sustainable development in Scandinavia and Central Asia, where she compared approaches to addressing the challenges of glacier melting in the Arctic and the Tien Shan. Master’s student M. Kinadina examined the experience of South Asian countries and the European Union in implementing sustainable development, including issues of digitalization and technology within the framework of SDG 9.
Additionally, projects focusing on environmental security and the development of green energy in ASEAN countries, the European Union, South America, and Central Asia were presented. The event served as an important platform for the exchange of academic ideas, the development of research skills, and the strengthening of academic cooperation between Kazakhstani and international master’s students. The topics of the presented projects correspond to the content of the course “Political Regionalism” (instructor – Candidate of Historical Sciences A.R. Utegenova) and reflect modern interdisciplinary approaches to the study of regional development.
