The XIV Interuniversity Tourism Olympiad for the Zhastur Cup was held on the basis of the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. 11 teams from various educational institutions of Kazakhstan took part in the Olympiad. Among the participants were teams from KazNU, Narkhoz University, Kazumoy named after Abylai Khan, Caspian University College, Turan University, KazNPU named after Abai, Kazakh National Women's Pedagogical University and Kazakh-Chinese Language College.

The event was organized by the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism of the University in cooperation with the Zhastur Tourism and Sports Development Club of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The competition was held in two stages and included both intellectual and practical stages. The participants demonstrated knowledge in the field of tourism and geography, and then tested their skills in conditions close to real ones: in an open area they completed distances with elements of a tourist all-around, requiring endurance, precision and teamwork. This format made it possible to comprehensively assess the level of training of future industry specialists.

The organizers noted that the Olympiad is aimed not only at identifying the strongest, but also at developing students' professional competencies.
"Tourism is an area where theory is inseparable from practice. Such competitions provide an opportunity for students to prove themselves in real conditions and understand the requirements of their future profession",- the representatives of the organizing committee emphasized.

Following the results of the competition, the KazNU team became the winner of the Grand Prix, demonstrating a high level of training and confident completion of all stages. The winners and prize-winners were awarded with diplomas and commemorative awards.
