YOUTH AND THE VALUE OF UNITY: A MEANINGFUL CURATORIAL HOUR

On April 30, 2026, at 91ý Kazakh National University, students of the 2nd year of the “6B02207 - Oriental Studies” program from the Faculty of Oriental Studies, Department of Turkology and History of Eastern Countries, held a meaningful curatorial hour dedicated to the “Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan.” The event was organized at a high level by senior curator A. Kyrkymbekova and brought together motivated and knowledge-driven youth.

This meeting was not merely a festive gathering, but a substantial platform aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of national unity. It is well known that May 1 is officially celebrated in Kazakhstan as the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan. Since 1996, this holiday has symbolized peace and harmony among the diverse ethnic groups of the country. It represents spring, renewal, labor, and solidarity, promoting shared values and friendship among peoples.

During the curatorial hour, students discussed topics such as national unity, cultural diversity, and social harmony, exchanging their views and ideas. Through informative presentations, short performances, and interactive discussions, the participants once again demonstrated that unity is the nation’s greatest wealth.

The main objective of the event was to foster patriotism among students, promote intercultural dialogue, and highlight the importance of peace and harmony in Kazakhstani society. Such initiatives align with the university’s strategic mission to educate not only knowledgeable but also responsible and socially aware citizens.

This curatorial hour became a vivid example of unity and friendship, as well as an important step demonstrating the active civic engagement of future leaders.
