KazNU students won the Cryptology Olympiad
Second-year students of the Cryptology educational program at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University demonstrated outstanding results at the XVIII Republican Subject Olympiad. As part of the "Mathematical foundations of information security and Cryptology" course, representatives of the university won all three prizes.
According to the results of the competition, Nurbakhyt Ermek won the first place, Zarina Sbash took the second place, and Syrym Ismailov took the third place. In addition, Temirlan Rustemov, Almas Toktasyn and their supervisor Dauren Nazarbayev were awarded special letters of thanks.
The Olympiad consisted of three difficult stages: theoretical in number theory and modular arithmetic, practical in cryptanalysis, and technological in radio cryptanalysis and codec research. At the most time-consuming third stage, KazNU students proved that they are proficient in modern cryptanalysis tools, have a deep understanding of digital radio network protocols, and are able to independently identify vulnerabilities in encryption systems.
These tasks are focused on solving urgent problems that future specialists face in their professional activities. The brilliant result confirmed the high level of students' training, as well as the stability and compliance of the KazNU educational process with the highest standards. Today, the Cryptology educational program is a systematic response to a personnel request in the field of information security and is recognized as one of the leading in the country.
