Expert Session on the Educational Program “Geography”

On April 28, 2026, an expert session was held to discuss and improve the educational program “Geography.”

The event aimed to enhance the quality of specialist training, update the content of the educational program in line with modern scientific and labor market requirements, and foster academic and professional collaboration between universities.

During the session, key aspects of the program’s implementation were reviewed, including the structure of the curriculum, course content, the balance between theoretical and practical training, and the integration of modern teaching methods, digital technologies, and geographic information systems (GIS). Particular attention was paid to the development of students’ professional competencies in accordance with current challenges in geography, environmental management, and sustainable development.

Participants emphasized the need to strengthen the practice-oriented component of education, expand field research, incorporate remote sensing methods and GIS technologies, and promote an interdisciplinary approach in training specialists.

The experts also highlighted the importance of developing academic mobility, involving employers in the design of educational programs, and expanding international cooperation to enhance graduates’ competitiveness.

As a result of the expert session, recommendations were developed aimed at modernizing the “Geography” educational program, improving its quality and alignment with international standards, and further strengthening scientific and educational cooperation between universities.
