On April 30, 2026, second-year students of the Department of Foreign Philology and Translation Studies at the Faculty of Philology of Farabi Kazakh National University took part in a cultural and educational event dedicated to the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan within the framework of Sustainable Development Goal 16 — “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions.” The event became an important part of the educational and воспитательный process aimed at strengthening intercultural dialogue, promoting tolerance, and fostering social harmony among young people.

The main objective of the event was to develop students’ respectful attitude toward cultural diversity, traditions, and values of the peoples of Kazakhstan, as well as to raise awareness of the importance of unity and mutual understanding in modern society. During the meeting, participants became acquainted with the cultural characteristics of various ethnic groups living in the country and discussed the role of national traditions in preserving social stability and harmony.

As part of the event, students participated in thematic discussions, cultural presentations, and interactive activities devoted to the ideas of friendship among peoples, mutual respect, and civic solidarity. Particular attention was paid to the importance of intercultural communication in the context of globalization and the necessity of preserving spiritual and cultural values.

The event generated strong interest among students and contributed to the development of social responsibility, communication skills, and cultural awareness. Participants noted that such initiatives help strengthen an atmosphere of trust, mutual understanding, and respect within the student community, while also fostering an active civic position.
Of particular importance was the opportunity for open exchange of opinions and discussion of current issues related to the preservation of social harmony and cultural diversity. Students concluded that young people play a significant role in strengthening social unity and promoting the values of peace and cooperation.
This event is part of the department’s program aimed at the comprehensive development of students through their involvement in the modern cultural and social environment. It contributed to broadening students’ horizons, developing intercultural communication skills, and shaping personal qualities essential for future specialists in the fields of philology and translation studies.
