В КазНУ прошел круглый стол на тему «Звериный стиль» в рамках ЦУР 4 «Качественное образование»

On March 13, 2026, at the Faculty of History of 91ý Kazakh National University, within the framework of SDG 4 “Quality Education,” an open lecture on the topic “Animal Style” was held, delivered by research associate Tölegenova Töräli from the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve “Issyk.”

The purpose of the lecture was to comprehensively reveal the historical and cultural significance of the “animal style,” to provide a scientific explanation of its origin, formation, and stages of development, as well as to determine its place in nomadic civilization. In addition, special attention was given to increasing students’ interest in national cultural heritage, developing their skills in working with sources, and expanding their scientific and cognitive outlook within the framework of quality education.

During the open lecture, the speaker elaborated in detail on the origin, main features, and artistic characteristics of the “animal style.” Particular attention was paid to its wide распространение in the Saka period, the dynamics of animal representations, compositional solutions, and their symbolic meaning, which were illustrated with specific examples. Based on archaeological finds, the features of the use of animal imagery in weapons, horse equipment, ornaments, and everyday objects were examined.

The worldview foundations of the “animal style” were also analyzed, including the connection of ancient tribes with nature, totemic beliefs, and mythological views. The lecturer emphasized that this art performed not only a decorative function but also had sacred and ideological significance. Using the example of well-known archaeological sites of Kazakhstan, the regional features and level of development of the “animal style” were revealed.

During the lecture, visual materials were presented to the audience, and analysis based on scientific data and modern research was conducted. In addition, the continuation of the traditions of the “animal style” in contemporary culture and art, as well as its role in the formation of national identity, was highlighted.

At the end of the lecture, students asked questions of interest and took part in the discussion of the topic, which contributed to the development of critical thinking and a deeper understanding of historical and cultural heritage.
