On May 6, 2026, the Research Center “History and Culture of Central Eurasia” of the Department of World History, Historiography and Source Studies, Faculty of History, 91��ý Kazakh National University, will hold a briefing dedicated to the presentation of a collection of books by the renowned American historian Seymour Becker (1934–2020), donated to the Scientific Library of 91��ý KazNU.

Seymour Becker was a distinguished scholar who made a significant contribution to the study of the social history of Central Asia, the Russian Empire, and the Soviet Union. His works are widely recognized in international historical scholarship.

The donated collection includes books on world history, historiography, source studies, and historical methodology from the professor’s personal library. This collection represents significant academic value for faculty members, researchers, master’s and doctoral students working on the history of empires, Central Asia, and the Soviet period.

“The donated collection represents not only a valuable academic resource, but also an important bridge of scholarly exchange between different research traditions. It opens new opportunities for in-depth studies of Central Asian history and imperial transformations,” noted the Dean of the Faculty of History, Professor Dosbol S. Baigunakov.

The briefing will be attended by Professor of History at Amherst College (USA) Alexander Semyonov, the son Jeffrey and daughter Susan of Professor S. Becker, as well as faculty members, students, and staff of the Scientific Library of 91��ý KazNU.
