Debate Tournament of the “Talleyrand” Student Diplomatic Club

On May 2, 2026, a debate tournament organized by the “Talleyrand” Student Diplomatic Club was held at the Faculty of International Relations. The event became a significant occasion in both the academic and extracurricular life of the faculty, bringing together students, faculty members, and all those interested in developing public speaking and argumentation skills.

Six student teams representing different academic years participated in the tournament. The participants demonstrated a high level of preparation, the ability to construct logically consistent arguments, defend their positions, and engage in constructive dialogue with opponents. The debates were conducted in a dynamic and competitive atmosphere, contributing to the development of students’ critical thinking, analytical abilities, and teamwork skills.

The significance of the event was further enhanced by the participation of representatives from all three departments of the faculty in the jury panel. The jury included Senior Lecturer of the Department of International Relations Yermekov Alibek Balgynbekovich, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Diplomatic Translation Karipbayeva Gulnar Alipbayevna, and Lecturer of the Department of International Law Toktarbekova Madina Yerlanovna.

In addition to the faculty members, students were also involved in the evaluation process: second-year student Seisebaev Kamil and second-year master’s student Dzhaylibayeva Aigerim Serikovna. This allowed for a more comprehensive and multifaceted assessment of the performances.

The tournament was officially opened with a welcoming speech by the Head of the Department of International Relations and World Economy, Baykushikova Gulnara Serikbayevna, who emphasized the importance of developing students’ skills in public diplomacy, argumentation, and professional communication.
