Issues of global communications and public relations were discussed
The international scientific and practical conference "Global Communications and Public Relations: Sustainable Development Goals and Research Strategies", dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the UNESCO Chair of Journalism and Communication, was held at the Faculty of Journalism of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University as part of the World Press Freedom Day. The traditional III Shaimerden Readings were also organized as part of the event.
The main purpose of the conference was to discuss current trends in global communications, analyze further directions for the development of public relations, and consider the role of media and science in achieving sustainable development goals.
The event was opened with a welcoming speech by Margulan Ibraimov, member of the Board, Vice–Rector for Research and Innovation, emphasizing the relevance of the conference topic and the contribution of Yerbol Shaimerdenov, an outstanding writer, poet, publicist, specialist in state symbols and one of the organizers of the first press service of the Republic of Kazakhstan, to the development of the media and state symbols of the country. "Everything that the Honored Worker of Kazakhstan, the holder of the Order of "Qurmet" E.Shaimerdenov did during the period of strengthening the country's independence is an invaluable contribution to the spiritual wealth of the nation. His deeds were significant, and his goals were lofty. This is a great example for the education of future generations. While serving the country in responsible government positions, he managed to write and publish about 20 books that became spiritual food for the people and the younger generation",- the vice–rector noted in his speech.

Guldana Argenova, Director of the Department of Heraldry of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in her speech emphasized the merits of Yerbol Shaimerdenov in the field of state symbols research. "In 1992, the scientist joined the commission for the approval of state symbols. As a member of the working group, he was one of the first to conduct an in-depth scientific study of the symbols of the Republic of Kazakhstan. He systematized and scientifically described the attributes of power, banners and insignia, starting from the Saka period and up to 1991. In addition, Erbol Shaimerdenov paid great attention to departmental symbols: he developed standards and rules for the placement of insignia for law enforcement agencies and the armed forces. Yerbol Shaimerdenov's creative and scientific legacy includes more than 20 fundamental works, most of which are devoted to state symbols, the history of Kazakh ornaments and national heraldry".

Further, well-known Kazakhstani and foreign scientists, experts in the field of media and public relations presented informative reports to the audience, covering the following areas: new trends in global communication, public relations and media strategies, sustainable development goals and information policy, etc.

Professors-associate professors of the Faculty of Journalism and Communications of Xinjiang University (PRC) and the University of Journalism and Mass Communications of Uzbekistan were invited to the event as honorary guests.
