International Cooperation in Science and Education: Visit of the Michigan State University Delegation
A delegation from Michigan State University visited the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences of 91ý Kazakh National University as part of the development of international scientific and educational cooperation. The delegation included university leadership and leading scholars, among them Titus Awokuse, Vice Provost and Dean for International Studies and Programs, as well as professors specializing in educational policy, civil and environmental engineering, and international studies.
During the visit, the foreign scholars became acquainted with the main areas of research activity, ongoing projects, and the modern research infrastructure of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences. Particular attention was given to studies in hydrology, climate change, sustainable environmental management, remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), and natural hazard monitoring.

A campus tour of the faculty’s research centers and specialized laboratories was organized for the delegation members. The guests were introduced to the faculty’s material and technical facilities, modern equipment, and digital technologies used in education and scientific research. During the tour, laboratories and research spaces focused on hydrological process modeling, environmental monitoring, and geospatial data analysis were presented.
During the meeting, the parties discussed promising areas for future cooperation, including the implementation of joint scientific research projects, academic mobility for students and faculty members, the development of international educational programs, and participation in international grant and research initiatives. Special attention was also paid to interdisciplinary research in the fields of sustainable development, climate change, and environmental security.

The meetings and discussions contributed to strengthening the international academic ties of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences and expanding opportunities for implementing joint scientific projects and exchanging advanced experience in the field of geographical and environmental research.
