Third Day of Turkish Week: Exploring Culture and Traditions
On April 16, 2026, the third day of the “Turkish Week,” dedicated to Turkish culture, was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies. The event was organized by the Department of Turkish Studies and the History of Eastern Countries.
The main focus of the event was the presentation of Turkish cultural traditions. Participants emphasized that culture is one of the key foundations of national identity, reflecting the spirit of a people through traditions, cuisine, holidays, and everyday life.
As part of the program, third-year students of the “Foreign Philology” program presented key elements of Turkish culture. Guests were introduced to the tradition of marriage proposal (“kız isteme”), the pre-wedding henna night (“kına gecesi”), the особенностями Turkish breakfast, as well as important holidays and memorable dates in Turkey.
Presentations were delivered by students Balnur Turganbay, Talshyn Sapargali, and Meirgul Sagyndyk. Each presentation included detailed explanations and demonstrations of cultural practices.
A highlight of the event was an interactive quiz on Turkish culture, organized by Dayana Aitupova. Participants answered questions and received prizes for correct answers.
The organizers noted that the goal of the event was not only to share knowledge but also to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between cultures.
The event concluded with a closing speech by the Head of the Department, Khalel Agnur, who thanked the students for their active participation and contribution.
