Chairman of the Board Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev took part in the international symposium "The Golden Horde an example of steppe civilization: history, archeology, culture, identity", chaired by Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The forum was attended by delegations from more than 20 countries, including leading historians, archaeologists, orientalists, Turkologists, Mongolologists, numismatists, epigraphy specialists, political scientists, cultural scientists, art historians, diplomats and representatives of international organizations.

In his speech, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the importance of studying the legacy of the Golden Horde and spoke about ongoing scientific initiatives in this field. He stressed that on his initiative, the Institute for the Study of the Jochi Ulus was established in Kazakhstan, the first specialized scientific institution engaged in comprehensive research of the above–mԳپDzԱ topic. It was also noted that for the first time, a separate volume dedicated to the Golden Horde will appear in the new academic publication on the history of Kazakhstan.

The President highlighted the 800th anniversary of the «Аксак кулан» Museum, emphasizing its cultural significance.

In his speech, the Head of State drew attention to the need for an in-depth study of the management system and economic structure of the Golden Horde. He noted that during its heyday, the territory of the Jochi Ulus reached 6 million square kilometers, surpassing in scale many of the largest empires of the past. At the same time, the key factor in the strength of the state was not only the territory, but also an effective institutional management system.

Presentations at the symposium were made by Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Center Lazar Elundu Assomo, Secretary of State of the Kyrgyz Republic Arslan Koichiev, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan Iradanpova, President of the La France s'engage Foundation Audrey Azoulay, President of the Academy of Sciences of Mongolia Dambarel Sodnosambuu and President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan Shavkat Ayupov.
