Kazakhstan seeks to strengthen cooperation between countries

Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev delivered a speech at the international symposium "The Golden Horde – An Example of Steppe Civilization: History, Archaeology, Culture, and Uniqueness." The President expressed his sincere gratitude to the distinguished scholars and representatives of prestigious international organizations who attended the international symposium dedicated to the history of the Golden Horde. In his speech, the President also noted that holding the symposium within the framework of such a prestigious international organization is of great importance for the Golden Horde's legacy globally and recalled that our country has implemented numerous important projects with the support of UNESCO, including the Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, the stone petroglyphs of Tamgaly, and a number of ancient cities that are World Heritage Sites. Kazakhstan considers the history of the Golden Horde a complex, multifaceted period in world history.

In this era of changing geopolitical conditions, it is necessary to pay special attention to periods of creative development and fruitful moments of dialogue in human history, rather than remain confined to the tragic chronology of wars.

Currently, the global community finds itself at a historical crossroads. At this critical moment before choosing a civilization, he proposed uniting the efforts of authoritative, professional scholars in a single direction to present our shared history as a factor uniting peoples. In this regard, he emphasized the importance of a fair and politically neutral assessment of history.

The President noted that the unique manuscript "Chronicle of the Khans" received international recognition only last year, despite extensive work to popularize our nation's intangible cultural heritage. This is a valuable document containing information about the peoples who ruled the country, including during the Golden Horde period. Expressing interest in further developing our relations with friendly countries, the head of state called for a joint mobilization of global efforts to jointly and effectively fulfill this mutually beneficial and important task.
