A new stage in the study of the Turkic world
The work of the international symposium "On the 100th anniversary of the First Baku Turkological Congress: Turkology and the Turkic World" continued at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. It was attended by renowned scientists, academics and researchers from Kazakhstan, Turkiye, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
One of the main topics of discussion was modern approaches to the study of the Turkic world, from the reform of the alphabet and the preservation of written heritage to the digitalization of the humanities and the use of artificial intelligence in research. KazNU Professor Raushangul Avakova devoted her report to the development of Turkology from the ideas of Alash intellectuals to modern digital technologies. She noted that today the humanities is going through a stage of serious transformation, and digital tools open up new opportunities for studying archival sources and linguistic heritage.

The participants paid special attention to the issues of language reforms in Central Asian countries. Professor Jabbar Ishankul of Samarkand State University spoke about the current processes of alphabet reform in Uzbekistan and the problems of publishing folklore materials. According to him, the preservation of oral heritage today requires new scientific and technological approaches. Presentations were also made by academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan Abdyldazhan Akmataliev, professor of Ankara University Haji Bayram Veli Oguzkhan Durmush, who stressed that Turkology should go beyond the academic environment and become closer to society, especially to young people who perceive culture through digital platforms and new media.

A separate section was devoted to the epic "Korkyt Ata", which remains one of the most important symbols of the common cultural space of the Turkic peoples. Professor of the Aegean University Metin Ekizhi presented a study on the traditions of feasting in the epic and their significance in nomadic culture. Secretary General of the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO M. Ozhal Oguz spoke about the international recognition of the Korkyt Ata heritage and its promotion through UNESCO projects.

Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan Nizami Zhaferov, Professor of the Eastern Mediterranean University of Northern Cyprus Ahmet Pahlivan, Associate Professor of the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature Rohila Ruzmanova, Professor Veli Savash Yelok, Professor of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts Iqbal Aghayev, and other foreign and domestic researchers also took part in the breakout work of the conference.

The conference participants emphasized that the development of joint scientific projects and academic exchange plays an important role in strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between the countries of the Turkic world.
