Vice Dean of the Faculty of Physics and Technology at KazNU Participated in the University of Granada International Relations Week. SDG 4 and SDG 17
The Vice Dean for Scientific Innovation and International Relations of the Faculty of Physics and Technology at 91ý Kazakh National University participated in the international programme “UGR International Relations Week 2026: Empowering Global Mobility and Cultural Connections,” organized by the University of Granada, Spain. The event brought together representatives of higher education institutions from Europe, Asia, Latin America, and other regions of the world, serving as an important international platform for professional dialogue, exchange of experience, and the development of new strategic academic partnerships.
Participation in the programme provided an important opportunity to represent the Faculty of Physics and Technology of KazNU within the international academic community, while also gaining insight into advanced European practices in the internationalization of higher education, academic mobility, digital transformation of international activities, and the development of sustainable institutional partnerships.

Within the framework of the programme, key areas of international engagement in contemporary universities were comprehensively explored. These included the Erasmus+ programme, particularly KA171 International Credit Mobility, mechanisms for organizing and supporting international academic mobility for students and staff, academic recognition of learning outcomes, digitalization of international processes through the Erasmus Without Paper system, as well as innovative short-term international education formats such as Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP) and Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL).
Of particular interest to the Faculty of Physics and Technology was the University of Granada’s ecosystem-based approach to internationalization, in which international engagement is fully integrated into the university’s strategic governance framework. This model extends beyond academic mobility to encompass student support services, inclusive participation mechanisms, digital infrastructure, pre-departure preparation, support for international participants, and the development of long-term institutional partnerships.
During the event, professional meetings and academic discussions were held with representatives of leading universities from Spain, Belgium, Italy, Germany, France, Poland, the United Kingdom, and other countries. These discussions focused on opportunities for developing joint educational programmes, expanding academic mobility, implementing collaborative research projects, participating in international funding initiatives such as Horizon Europe and MSCA Staff Exchanges, and broadening institutional cooperation within the Erasmus+ framework.
For the Faculty of Physics and Technology, these areas represent strategic priorities in strengthening international competitiveness and advancing collaborative research in physics, materials science, engineering, nanotechnology, energy, digital technologies, and related scientific disciplines.
Participation in UGR International Relations Week 2026 also marked an important step in implementing the faculty’s strategy to expand its international presence, strengthen academic reputation, and enhance collaboration with universities recognized in international rankings such as QS, Times Higher Education, and Scimago Institutions Rankings. Such partnerships create new opportunities for undergraduate students, master’s students, doctoral researchers, and academic staff through academic exchanges, joint research initiatives, dual degree programmes, and international educational projects.

Special emphasis was placed on transforming international professional dialogue into concrete collaborative projects and sustainable institutional outcomes. The professional connections established and agreements reached during the programme create a strong foundation for the implementation of new international initiatives by the Faculty of Physics and Technology.
Participation in this event is fully aligned with KazNU’s strategic priorities for the internationalization of higher education and contributes directly to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 — Quality Education and SDG 17 — Partnerships for the Goals, by strengthening international academic cooperation, promoting knowledge exchange, and fostering sustainable global partnerships.
