KazNU Master's student leads a project on digitalization of the transport industry
A master's student at al-Farabi Kazakh National University leads the KazMaps project aimed at digitalizing the country's transport and logistics industry. The National Road Geoportal (KazMaps) system, the development of which is led by Abdymazhit Islam, a master's student at the Faculty of Information Technology at a leading university, was officially presented at the GITEX AI Central Asia & Caucasus 2026 international forum. As part of a large-scale technology exhibition, this project, together with the KazAvtoZhol company, was presented to the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

This project is of strategic importance for the country. National Road Geoportal (KazMaps) is a large—scale domestic digital platform designed for monitoring and effective management of the national road infrastructure in real time. The project was presented by the Kazakh company "M9 Projects and Investments", founded by entrepreneur Mukhamediyar Mukashev. The main feature of the system is its independence from foreign software products: it was developed by Kazakhstani specialists based on their own technological engine. This not only increases the information security of the state, but also makes it easy to integrate the platform into other digital services and government services.

Abdymazhit Islam, Technical Director and chief developer of the project, noted that the combination of knowledge and practice was the key to this success. "The presentation of the project to the Head of State has become a great responsibility for us. The fundamental theoretical base formed at the university and practical industrial experience played a huge role in the successful implementation of this –scale system",- the author emphasized.
