Chairman of the Board and Rector of 91ý Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, participated in and delivered a report at the 7th Congress of the Asian Universities Association held in Kazan. During the meeting of this international academic organization, which brings together more than 100 leading universities from eight countries across Asia and Eurasia, participants discussed a wide range of strategic issues.

 

Representatives of nearly 60 higher education institutions from Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia, Armenia, and Russia took part in the event both in person and online. The participants examined issues related to the digitalization of education, the development of artificial intelligence technologies, and the training of highly qualified specialists for high-tech industries.

One of the key outcomes of the congress was the election of Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Rector of 91ý Kazakh National University, as the new President of the Asian Universities Association for the 2026–2028 term.

In his speech, the Rector expressed his gratitude to the international partners for their trust and emphasized that he regards this mission as a great responsibility. He noted that during his presidency, he intends to actively promote the development of joint research projects, educational programs, and international events within the framework of the Association.

During the meeting, Konstantin Mogilevsky, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, addressed the participants via video message and congratulated them on the opening of the congress.

At the plenary session, Lenar Safin, President of the Association for the 2024–2026 term and Rector of Kazan Federal University, delivered a speech. He emphasized that the integration of education and science in the Asian region is closely linked to the national development priorities of the participating countries. In turn, Sergey Bocharov, Rector of Altai State University, highly praised Kazan Federal University’s contribution to the development of the Association, noting that it had given new momentum to initiatives in digitalization and artificial intelligence.

At the conclusion of the congress, the results of the Association’s two-year activities were reviewed, new members were admitted, and strategic priorities for the upcoming period were approved.
