NAS will work jointly with the KazNU Supercomputing Center
The activities and capabilities of the Supercomputing Center of 91ý Kazakh National University were presented to Aqylbek Kurishbayev, President of the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Chairman of the Board and Rector of 91ý Kazakh National University, Zhanseit Tuimebayev, noted that the high-performance computing system is already being utilized for accurate weather forecasting and seismic activity analysis. In addition, the supercomputer’s capabilities enable the effective resolution of tasks related to public safety. In particular, it is used for data processing aimed at reducing crime rates, analyzing road traffic accidents, and developing preventive measures.

In his remarks, the Rector emphasized that the supercomputer is of great importance not only for university research but also for the innovative development of the country as a whole.

Today, the supercomputer performs highly complex calculations at exceptional speed, contributing to the improvement of both scientific and applied research.

Zhanseit Tuimebayev also noted that members of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan will have access to the capabilities of the supercomputer operating at KazNU. According to him, the partnership between 91ý Kazakh National University and the National Academy of Sciences opens broad opportunities for the implementation of joint scientific projects and collaborative research.

President of the National Academy of Sciences, Aqylbek Kurishbayev, emphasized that the advancement of modern science and technology is impossible without high-performance computing systems and noted that the role of supercomputers in scientific research continues to grow every day.

It should be noted that the supercomputer has a performance capacity of 2,000 teraflops, making it the most powerful supercomputer not only in Kazakhstan but throughout Central Asia.
