Sejong Culture Academy Organized a Cultural and Educational Event for Students of the Department of Far Eastern Studies

On June 1, 3, and 5, 2026, a cultural and educational event entitled “Hanbok: Korea’s Cultural Heritage” was held at the Faculty of Oriental Studies of 91ý Kazakh National University. The event was organized by the King Sejong Cultural Academy with the support of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Almaty. Faculty members and first-, second-, and third-year students of the Korean Studies program within the Department of Far Eastern Studies participated in the event.

The main objective of the event was to introduce students to the history, cultural significance, and contemporary relevance of hanbok, the traditional attire of the Korean people. It also aimed to promote interest in Korean culture and foster intercultural understanding. As part of the program, students attended a special lecture and participated in a question-and-answer session.

During the practical session, participants learned about the traditions associated with wearing hanbok and had the opportunity to try on traditional Korean clothing. In addition, students took part in a workshop on making traditional Korean-style keychains, which allowed them to gain a deeper understanding of Korean culture. The event served as an important cultural platform that contributed to the development of students’ creative and communication skills while promoting Korean cultural heritage.
