Students of the Economics and Digital Economy Educational Programs Visited the Sterling Energy Oil Depot

From May 26 to May 29, 2026, the Department of Economics organized an educational internship for first-year students of the Economics and Digital Economy educational programs. As part of the internship, the students visited the oil depot of MERCURY ENERGY LLP, which is part of the STERLING ENERGY holding company, to gain insight into the operations of a modern enterprise and apply their theoretical knowledge in a real professional environment.

During the visit, the students became familiar with the company's production and management processes, the specifics of the oil and gas industry, modern digital technologies, and the company's innovative projects, including the network of automated iON Smart gas stations.

A presentation on the holding company's activities was delivered in Kazakh, Russian, and English by Almas Kairatovich Kulibayev, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of STERLING ENERGY LLP and a PhD doctoral student of the Faculty of Economics.

The internship contributed to the development of students’ skills in enterprise analysis, understanding business processes, working with professional information, communication, and teamwork. The visit provided students with a better understanding of current labor market requirements, the prospects of economic digitalization, and opportunities for professional growth within their chosen field of study.

The Department of Economics expresses its sincere gratitude to the management and staff of STERLING ENERGY LLP for organizing this informative excursion and for their contribution to the practical training of future specialists.
