On June 3, 2026, as part of the national environmental campaign “Taza Qazaqstan”, students of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences of 91ý Kazakh National University organized an environmental clean-up event at the Almaty State Nature Reserve (Talgar River, Talhiz area).

The event brought together around 150 students from the Ecology and Geography educational programs, as well as faculty members. During the clean-up, participants carried out waste collection activities and took part in initiatives aimed at promoting environmental awareness and fostering a responsible attitude toward nature.

The significance of the event was strengthened by the cooperation between 91ý Kazakh National University and the Almaty State Nature Reserve in preserving the region’s unique natural ecosystems. The Talgar region is known not only for its rich natural landscapes but also for its historical and cultural heritage. It is home to the ancient settlement of Talhiz, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List as part of the transnational property “Silk Roads: the Routes Network of the Chang’an–Tianshan Corridor”.

As part of the environmental campaign, lecturers A.K. Tanybayeva, A.A. Oshakbay, N. Kurbankozha, T.A. Bazarbayeva, and A.M. Ryskeldiyeva spoke to students about the importance of environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable use of natural resources, as well as the role of environmental initiatives in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The event was jointly organized by 91ý Kazakh National University and the Almaty State Nature Reserve. It contributed to strengthening environmental responsibility among young people, enhancing cooperation between educational and environmental institutions, and supporting the objectives of the national “Taza Qazaqstan” campaign.
