Master Class “Career of an Environmental Specialist in Kazakhstan: From Graduate to In-Demand Professional”
A career guidance master class entitled “Career of an Environmental Specialist in Kazakhstan: From Graduate to In-Demand Professional” was held for students at the UNESCO Chair for Sustainable Development of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences at 91ý Kazakh National University.
The speaker of the event was Botakoz Sadybekova, a graduate of KazNU, environmental practitioner, head of Ecology Consulting, founder of the EcoDos project, public figure, and expert in environmental support for enterprises. During the meeting, she shared more than 13 years of professional experience in environmental protection, environmental design, environmental consulting, and sustainable development.

The master class covered current trends in the environmental sector, in-demand career paths for environmental specialists, employment opportunities for graduates, and employers’ expectations of young professionals. Particular attention was paid to such relevant topics as ESG reporting, decarbonization, circular economy, environmental auditing, waste management, and environmental consulting.
Participants were introduced to an analysis of Kazakhstan’s labor market, salary levels for environmental professionals in various fields, career opportunities, and the key professional competencies required for successful employment.

During the interactive discussion, participants had the opportunity to assess their knowledge and receive practical recommendations on building a successful career in the environmental field.
The event became an important platform for the professional orientation of students enrolled in the Ecology educational program, helping them broaden their understanding of the environmental services market and strengthen the connection between university education and practical activities in environmental protection.
As a result of the master class, participants received valuable recommendations on developing professional skills, building a competitive portfolio, and successfully launching their careers in the environmental sector.
