On June 12, 2026, an extended meeting of the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at 91��ý Kazakh National University was held, dedicated to the preliminary defense of doctoral dissertations.

During the meeting, the following dissertation works were reviewed and successfully passed the pre-defense stage:

Doctoral student of the educational program “6D070100 – Biotechnology” Abekova Asima Ospanovna presented her dissertation entitled: “Study of the antitumor activity of a coordination iodine compound for the development of new therapeutic agents.”

Doctoral student of the educational program “8D05104 – Genetics” Takenov Nurlan Kairatuly presented his dissertation entitled: “Study of the genotypes of the tuberculosis pathogen Mycobacterium tuberculosis in Kazakhstan.”

The pre-defense was conducted in Russian in Room 322 of the Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology. The dissertation research was carried out at leading scientific institutions in Kazakhstan and at international partner centers, including research and medical organizations in Almaty (Kazakhstan), Vienna (Austria) and Xiamen (China).

Following the meeting, both doctoral candidates successfully passed the pre-defense and were recommended for further submission of their dissertations for final defense.

The Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics notes the high scientific level of the presented studies, as well as the significant contribution of scientific supervisors and reviewers to the training of the doctoral students.
