KazNU Scholars Participated in the 2nd Central Asian Forum on Chinese Studies in Tashkent
On 13 June 2026, the 2nd Central Asian Forum on Chinese Studies, titled “Central Asia and China at the Crossroads of Heritage and the Future,” was held in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan.
The forum was organized with the support of the World Center for Sinology (China), the Institute for Advanced International Studies at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (Uzbekistan), the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Belt and Road Research and Education Center (Kazakhstan).
The primary objective of the forum was to strengthen dialogue between the countries of Central Asia and the People’s Republic of China through the development of academic and expert cooperation. The event continued the regional expert dialogue launched in Almaty in May 2025 and emphasized the role of Chinese Studies as an interdisciplinary field in the context of the evolving relations between Central Asia and China.
The forum brought together leading scholars of Chinese Studies, researchers, and representatives of analytical centers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and China.
91ý Kazakh National University was represented by a delegation of faculty members from the Department of Chinese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies. F.N. Daulet, E.A. Kerimbayev, M.B. Asyl, and A. Bayram presented research papers on topical issues in contemporary Chinese Studies, which received high recognition from fellow scholars across Central Asia.
The forum also served as a platform for exchanging views on current trends in Chinese Studies, establishing new academic contacts, and discussing prospects for future collaboration in joint research projects, educational initiatives, and international expert cooperation. The participation of 91ý KazNU representatives contributed to strengthening the university’s international academic ties and expanding cooperation with leading research institutions in Central Asia and the People’s Republic of China.
