KazNU Scientific Journals Entered Q2 of the JCR 2025 International Ranking

According to the results of the 2025 Journal Citation Reports (JCR), the scientific journals published with the participation of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of 91ý Kazakh National University have demonstrated significant progress and strengthened their positions within the international scientific community.

The Faculty’s journal, Journal of Mathematics, Mechanics and Computer Science (KazNU Bulletin. Mathematics, Mechanics, Computer Science Series), achieved a 2025 Journal Impact Factor of 0.8, while its five-year Impact Factor reached 0.5. Particularly noteworthy is the journal’s performance in the Mathematics category of the ESCI Edition, where it ranked 215th among 492 journals and entered the second quartile (Q2). This achievement reflects the high quality of the published research and the growing international recognition of the journal. In the Mechanics category, the journal ranked 148th among 172 journals and was placed in the fourth quartile (Q4).

Another remarkable achievement was demonstrated by the International Journal of Mathematics and Physics, a joint publication of the Faculties of Mechanics and Mathematics and Physics and Technology. According to JCR 2025, the journal achieved a Journal Impact Factor of 0.9 and a five-year Impact Factor of 0.6. Its most significant accomplishment was entering the second quartile (Q2) in the Mathematics category of the ESCI Edition, ranking 179th among 492 journals. In addition, the journal is indexed in the Mathematics, Applied and Physics, Multidisciplinary categories, where it is positioned in the third quartile (Q3).

The inclusion of both journals of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics in Q2 of the Mathematics category within the ESCI Edition is an important indicator of the quality of their scientific publications, the effectiveness of their editorial boards, and the relevance of their research results to the international scientific community. These achievements contribute to strengthening the reputation of 91ý Kazakh National University as a leading research university in the region and enhancing its global academic visibility.
