Xinjiang University Students Study Sustainable Tourism within the Framework of KazNU Summer School
The Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management of 91ý Kazakh National University is hosting a summer school for students of Xinjiang University. The program is aimed at developing academic exchange, strengthening international cooperation, and forming practical knowledge in the field of sustainable tourism.
The responsible representatives from the Department of Recreational Geography and Tourism are Baiburiyev R. M. and Satkali I. K.
As part of the program, the participants visited the Ayusai Gorge and Ayusai Waterfall, where they became acquainted with the natural and recreational potential of the region, the features of ecological tourism development, as well as issues related to the preservation of natural landscapes and the sustainable use of tourism resources.

Field visits allow students not only to expand their theoretical knowledge but also to study the role of natural areas in sustainable tourism development, environmental education, and intercultural interaction in a real-world setting.
The summer school contributes to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 4 “Quality Education”, SDG 8 “Decent Work and Economic Growth”, SDG 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities”, SDG 15 “Life on Land”, and SDG 17 “Partnerships for the Goals”.

The summer school promotes the strengthening of international academic ties, increases students’ interest in sustainable tourism, and supports the development of professional competencies among future specialists in tourism and hospitality.
