Free Course: "Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning"

At the Faculty of Information Systems and Artificial Intelligence of 91ý Kazakh National University, a free educational course for students titled “Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning” has been organized. The course aims to deepen students’ theoretical knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence and develop their practical skills.

The course is conducted by Samson Dawit Bekele, a research engineer at the Computer Science Laboratory, recognized for his highly cited research in artificial intelligence. He is the author of more than ten high-impact scientific publications in the field of AI.

The course is planned for four weeks. Currently, the second week of the program has been completed, and students have become familiar with the fundamental principles of artificial intelligence and machine learning. The program includes both theoretical and practical sessions. During the classes, participants gain knowledge of key AI concepts, machine learning methods, data analysis techniques, and the potential applications of intelligent systems across various sectors.

The course content enables students to master modern technologies aligned with the demands of a digital society. Practical assignments allow students to develop skills in working with machine learning models, processing data, and applying intelligent algorithms.

This educational initiative also contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • SDG 4: Quality Education – enhancing access to modern knowledge and professional skills in AI for students.
  • SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure – preparing qualified specialists capable of working in high-tech industries.
  • SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities – providing equal learning opportunities to students regardless of their social status.

Thus, the course not only broadens students’ knowledge in artificial intelligence but also shapes them as future specialists capable of effectively applying modern technologies. Such educational initiatives enhance the professional potential of university students, foster the development of innovative technologies, and contribute to sustainable societal development.
