Ecology and Safety: an open Lecture on Infectious Diseases
A first-year doctoral student of the «Ecology» (8D05207) program at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, AsselKairatovna Koblanova, conducted an open lecture for third-year students majoring in « Life Safety and Environmental Protection» on the topic: «Mass Outbreaks and Infectious Diseases of Livestock.». 
During the lecture, the causes, transmission routes, main symptoms, and the impact on humans and animals of diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease, anthrax, brucellosis, and rabies were discussed. Preventive measures and safety rules were also explained.
To enhance student engagement, interactive teaching methods were used, including a «ticket-drawing» format, question-and-answer activities, and tasks based on visual materials. At the end of the session, a test was conducted, after which students, divided into two groups, reinforced the material through game-based activities. 
This open lecture contributed to deepening students’ theoretical knowledge, developing their professional skills, and improving their understanding of environmental and life safety issues. Moreover, the lecture aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals, in particular contributing to the development of knowledge and skills aimed at preserving human health and well-being, as well as protecting life on Earth.
