The Congress of Geographers of the Turkic world was held

A delegation led by Chairman of the Board Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev took part in the III Congress of Geographers of the Turkic world, held in Bukhara (Uzbekistan).

The International Scientific Forum has become an important platform for strengthening partnerships in the field of science, education and culture between the Turkic countries.

The Congress was attended by Minister Of Preschool And School Education Of The Republic Of Uzbekistan Ezozakhon Karimova, Rector of Bukhara State Pedagogical Institute Bahodir Mamurov, Chairman of the International Kazakh-Turkish University Named After Khoja Ahmed Yasawi Mukhittin Shimshek, Rector of the National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan Hilola Umarova, As Well As scientists And experts From Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. KazNU professors Amangeldy Temirbekov, Ulzhalgas Yesnazarova, Maulken Askarova, Gulnara nurmukhamedkyzy, Aigul Tokbergenova, Tursyngul Bazarbayeva also took part.

Opening the event, the rector of the Bukhara State Pedagogical Institute, Bahodir Mamurov, noted the importance of scientific cooperation between the Turkic states, the role of geographical science in the context of modern global challenges, as well as the relevance of developing a common intellectual and educational space.

In turn, KazNU Rector Zhanseit Tuimebayev made a report in which he said that in 2025, the II Congress of Geographers of the Turkic world was organized at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University. At that time, more than 150 scientists from Turkic countries took part in it.

"In the modern world, geopolitical instability, global economic changes, the climate crisis, issues of water and food security, migration and increased urbanization processes create new challenges for states. In such difficult conditions, geographical science is of particular importance. It is she who scientifically substantiates spatial development, natural resource management, regional security, ecological balance and a sustainable future.

In addition, I consider important the initiative to create a Network University of the Turkic countries, which will bring cooperation in the field of science and education to a new level, develop joint educational programs, expand academic mobility and support young scientists",- said the rector.

During the congress, the participants voiced their proposals and expressed their willingness to jointly implement common projects.

Within the framework of the events, 91ý Kazakh National University and Bukhara State Pedagogical Institute signed a memorandum of cooperation. The document is aimed at developing partnerships in the fields of science, education, academic mobility and the implementation of joint projects.

It should be noted that the first congress was held in 2024 in the city of Turkestan on the basis of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Khoja Ahmed Yasawi. The second congress was held in 2025 at the 91ý Kazakh National University.
