New models of economic sustainability are analyzed

The IV International Scientific and practical conference "The paradigm of sustainable economic development in the context of global change: challenges, consequences, opportunities" was held at the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. The large-scale event, organized by the Higher School of Economics and Business as part of the V International Farabi Forum, brought together leading scientists, government officials and top management of major companies.

Opening the plenary session, Yerkin Duissenov, Deputy Chairman of the Board and First Vice–Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, greeted the participants on behalf of the university's leadership. In his speech, he focused on the profound transformation of economic models. "The modern paradigm of sustainable development goes beyond the traditional understanding of the balance between economic growth and environmental responsibility. It is being transformed into a multidimensional system where the sustainability of institutions, technological sovereignty, financial security and inclusive development are becoming key",- Yerkin Duisenov noted.

The speaker also elaborated on the legal aspects of economic transformations, recalling that the constitutional reform of 2022 consolidated the ownership of land and mineral resources to the people of Kazakhstan. According to the first Vice-rector, the establishment of a nationwide form of ownership forms a serious basis for the development of local self-government. Yerkin Duisenov expressed confidence that "it is municipal property that will create conditions for the development of such an important institution of civil society as local self-government",- which is a direct area of economic relations.

The Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Madi Takiev, made a speech at the plenary session, presenting a substantive report to the conference participants and expressing his opinion on topical issues of economic development in the context of global changes.

The conference program covered a wide range of topics: from the digital breakthrough in the era of artificial intelligence to the problems of macroeconomic stability. International experts from Malaysia, Indonesia, Sweden, Russia and Uzbekistan took part in the discussions. Presentations were made by John Abraham, Operations Manager of the World Bank India, Umut Shayakhmetova, Chairman of the Management Board of Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan JSC, Elya Mamleeva, Vice President of MasterCard, and other recognized industry leaders.

The participants discussed the strategic priorities of Kazakhstan's development, the digital transformation of the agro-industrial complex and new business models. During the breakout sessions and master classes, discussions were held on financial literacy, the introduction of AI into accounting processes and strengthening cooperation between the scientific community and the real sector of the economy.

The meeting resulted in the development of recommendations on adapting the national economy to modern challenges and strengthening international cooperation.
