“Study in Azerbaijan” International Education Fair Officially Opened in Almaty
The Farabi Hub Innovation Center at 91ý Kazakh National University hosted the official opening of the international education exhibition “Study in Azerbaijan,” featuring leading higher education institutions from Azerbaijan. The two-day event aims to strengthen strategic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan in the fields of education, science, and innovation. In addition, the exhibition contributes to the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The official opening ceremony was attended by Saysat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Emin Amrullaev, Minister of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan, as well as rectors of leading universities from both countries, education experts, and representatives of international organizations.
Nearly 25 leading Azerbaijani universities are participating in the fair. During the event, applicants and students have the opportunity to explore higher education programs, academic opportunities, scientific and innovative research, and the modern infrastructure of campuses. Participants were provided with detailed information on grant programs, academic mobility, dual-degree programs, as well as admission requirements and language prerequisites.
During the meeting, Minister of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan, Saysat Nurbek, emphasized the importance of the fair for the development of bilateral educational cooperation:
“Last year, more than 2,500 applicants participated in the ‘Study in Kazakhstan’ exhibition in Azerbaijan, showing great interest. During that visit, around 80 important agreements were concluded. Today’s event is a tangible result of this cooperation. The Azerbaijani government offers special grants for Kazakhstani students. This opens a great opportunity for our youth to pursue education at an international level,” said the minister.
In turn, Minister of Science and Education of Azerbaijan, Emin Amrullaev, highlighted the importance of integration in education:
“Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are countries with a shared history, culture, and spiritual values. Cooperation in education further strengthens these connections. We are ready to provide Kazakhstani students with high-quality education and opportunities to gain experience in an international environment,” said E. Amrullaev.
The fair was also attended by faculty and experts from Kazakhstan’s universities, including Sergazy Erejeppuly Kudaibergenov, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Religious Studies and Cultural Studies at the Faculty of Philosophy and Political Science of KazNU; PhD Dinara Rakhmetovna Saparova, Head of the Postgraduate Education and Academic Mobility Department at the International University of Astana; and PhD Nargiz Alievna Abdulina, Senior Lecturer at the International University of Information Technologies. Their participation added additional scientific and academic significance to the event.
Additionally, new areas of cooperation between Azerbaijani and Kazakhstani universities were discussed at the fair. The universities exchanged proposals on joint scientific projects, academic staff mobility, and expanding internship programs. These initiatives contribute to increasing the competitiveness of the regional educational space and expanding opportunities for students to gain international experience. The parties also discussed supporting innovative startups and developing new digital solutions in education.
It is worth noting that the fair will continue on April 7–8 at Farabi Hub. All applicants and students will be able to explore the educational opportunities offered by Azerbaijani universities and receive final, precise, and comprehensive answers to all their questions.
