On March 30, 2026, at 91ý Kazakh National University, under the supervision of Candidate of Philological Sciences, Assistant Professor E.K. Karbozov and Doctor of Philological Sciences, Assistant Professor G.Zh. Bolatova, within the framework of SDG 4 «Quality Education,» first-year master’s student of the «Kazakh Philology» educational program Arailym Batukhankyzy delivered an open lecture for second-year students majoring in «Kazakh Philology» on the subject «Kazakh Literature of the 14th–18th Centuries» on the topic «Warrior poets of the time of Abylai Khan».

The aim of the lecture was to explain the historical and social context of the era of Abilai Khan and to analyze the artistic representation of martial spirit, national unity, statehood, and heroism in the works of the poets Tatikara and Umbetey; to highlight the educational, historical, and spiritual significance of their poetry; and to develop students’ literary and analytical skills.
The 18th century was one of the most challenging and turbulent periods in Kazakh history. The Dzungar invasions and the colonial policies of neighboring empires posed a serious threat to the ethnic integrity and political independence of the Kazakh people. During this difficult time, warrior-poets such as Umbetey and Tatikara stood beside Abilai Khan, offering guidance and reflecting the realities of their era in their works.
They not only advised the khan during critical moments but also critically evaluated his actions, as well as those of batyrs and other poets. Their творчество embodied the ideals of freedom, independence, and national unity.
The central theme of their poetry is unity and heroism.
The lecture analyzed the lifestyle of the Kazakh people during Abylai Khan’s reign, the socio-political situation of the time, and the lives and works of Umbetey and Tatikara.
At the end of the lecture, students shared their opinions on the new material and provided feedback via the Google Forms platform.
