Open Advisor Hour: "Nauryz - A Celebration of Nature and Humanity!" within the Framework of UN SDG №4 "Quality Education"

On April 9, 2026, as part of their pedagogical practice, first-year master's students of the "7M05119-Reproductive Genetics" educational program, Akbota Izbassarova and Guldana Orynbay, conducted an open advisor hour titled "Nauryz - A Celebration of Nature and Humanity!" for third-year students of the "6B05105-Genetics" program. This session served as a prominent example of the practical implementation of UN SDG №4 "Quality Education," which emphasizes the development of well-rounded individuals through an interdisciplinary approach. The organizers demonstrated high levels of pedagogical skill by integrating history, astronomy, philosophy, and national cultural heritage into the modern educational process.

During the session, students deepened their knowledge of the holiday's origins, which span over 5,000 years. A specific focus was placed on historical justice, noting that the holiday was banned starting in 1926, and its restoration was made possible through the courage of statesman Uzbekali Zhanibekov. The holiday was examined not only as a cultural phenomenon but also from a scientific perspective - as the astronomical onset of spring, the moment when the center of the Sun crosses the Earth's equator. Additionally, the philosophical concept of Garifolla Yesim was discussed, defining Nauryz as a cosmic resonance of human equality and harmony between humanity and nature.

Particular attention in the context of "Quality Education" was given to the interactive format of the lesson, aimed at fostering cognitive activity. Students explored the "Nauryznama" decade concept in detail (from March 14 to 23), where each day holds a profound meaning - from the Day of Creation and Mercy to the Day of Purification. In the interactive block, participants identified and discussed key elements of national identity: traditional Kazakh games (linked to National Sports Day), the significance of ornaments on national clothing (as part of National Clothing Day), and the physiological benefits of national dishes. Specifically, students learned about the unique "uykyashar" dish prepared by young women and the symbolism of prosperity inherent in every serving of "Nauryz kozhe."

Based on the event's results, it can be concluded that the established goals were successfully achieved. The lesson made a significant contribution to enhancing the students' cultural and scientific literacy. The event fully aligns with the goals and objectives of UN SDG №4 "Quality Education," supporting the training of highly qualified, erudite specialists capable of global thinking and respecting their historical roots.
