New Horizons in Translinguistics: Results of Section 6 of the “Farabi Alemi” Conference
Within the framework of the international conference “Farabi Alemi,” held at the Faculty of Philology of 91ý Kazakh National University, Section 6 titled “Current Issues in Modern Translinguistics” was successfully conducted.

The section brought together young researchers from various higher education institutions of Kazakhstan, including 91ý Kazakh National University, Kazakh-American University, and the Academy of the Border Service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan. A total of 12 applications were submitted, and additional participants joined the session. In total, 13 presentations were delivered offline and 2 online.
The session, moderated by faculty members, demonstrated a high academic level. The presentations addressed topical issues such as translation strategies for literary and poetic texts, rendering idioms and clichés, and contemporary interpretations of the concept of translingualism.
The winners of the section were determined as follows:
1st Degree Diploma was awarded to Amirhan Seidakhmet (91ý KazNU) for the paper “Specifics of Translating English Children’s Fiction” (scientific supervisor – Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associate Professor S.D. Seidenova).
2nd Degree Diplomas were awarded to:
– A. Oralkhanqyzy (Kazakh-American University) for the study on preserving humor and imagery in the translation of Dylan Thomas’s work;
– Dariga Nurlankyzy (91ý KazNU) for the research on preserving the melody of poetic texts based on translations of M. Makatayev.
3rd Degree Diplomas were awarded to:
– Aylin Kumbatova (91ý KazNU) for the research on idiom translation strategies;
– Aida Tursynbayeva (91ý KazNU) for the analysis of economic cliché translation;
– Sh.E. Saikhamadova (91ý KazNU) for the study on the interpretation of “translingualism” in modern linguistics.
Several participants were also awarded certificates of appreciation for their active participation and high-quality presentations.
The section demonstrated the strong academic potential of young researchers and highlighted the relevance of translinguistic studies in contemporary linguistic and intercultural contexts.
