The Relationship Between Students’ Psychological State and Oral Health Conditions
On October 29, 2025, an open educational lesson titled “The Relationship Between Students’ Psychological State and Oral Health Conditions” was conducted by Gulnur Nursainovna Borbasova, Senior Lecturer at the Department of General and Applied Psychology. The event was attended by second-year Dentistry students.
The relevance of the topic lies in the fact that oral diseases are influenced not only by physiological factors but also by psychological conditions. Stress, anxiety, and negative emotional states affect the overall functioning of the body and may contribute to the onset and progression of dental diseases. A comprehensive analysis of this relationship is essential for developing effective prevention and treatment strategies.
The aim of the lesson was to examine the impact of psychological state on general and oral health, to analyze the role of stress and emotional tension in the development of dental diseases, and to form a scientific understanding of the relationship between mental and physical health.
During the session, students analyzed the influence of psychological factors on conditions such as periodontal disease, stomatitis, and bruxism. It was demonstrated that psycho-emotional stress can act as a risk factor that exacerbates pathological processes. Particular attention was given to the preventive role of psychological regulation.
The lesson was conducted in an interactive format, including presentations, discussions, and practical exercises. Relaxation techniques, breathing exercises, and stress-reduction tasks were applied.
In the final part, a discussion and Q&A session were held. Active participants were awarded certificates of appreciation. Overall, the lesson was conducted at a high academic level and contributed to the integration of theoretical knowledge with practical skills, as well as to the development of students’ professional competence.
