On April 3, 2026, as part of the implementation of SDG 4 – “Quality Education,” students of the faculties of History, Economics, Physics, and Biology of the 91传媒 Kazakh National University took part in a cultural and educational event.
About 100 students, together with Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor Sanyiarova N.S., and Candidate of Philological Sciences, Assistant Professor Kakisheva N.T. from the Department of Russian Philology and World Literature, attended the play “Zhusan isisi,” based on the work by Sain Muratbekov, staged at the Gabit Musrepov Kazakh State Academic Theatre for Children and Youth.
The play is based on the story of the same name and tells about the fate of a boy named Ayan, who experiences the difficult years of wartime. Through the perspective of a child, deep themes of loneliness, loss, hope, and inner strength are revealed. The title “Zhusan isisi” (“The Smell of Wormwood”) symbolizes the native land, childhood memories, and a person’s spiritual connection with their roots.
The performance stood out for its expressive acting, carefully designed scenery, and emotionally rich direction. This allowed the audience to deeply feel the atmosphere of the story and reflect on its key ideas. The play made a strong impression, highlighting important moral values and encouraging reflection on human resilience and mutual support.
After the performance, a discussion was held where students shared their impressions, noted the actors’ skills, and emphasized the relevance of the themes presented. The event contributed to broadening cultural horizons, developing aesthetic perception, and strengthening interest in national literature and theatrical art.
