A ceremonial event marking the 27th anniversary of the “Sunkar” Student and Master’s Trade Union and the awards ceremony of the “Farabi Uzdіkterі” competition was held
At 91ý Kazakh National University, a solemn event dedicated to the 27th anniversary of the “Sunkar” Student and Master’s Trade Union, as well as the award ceremony of the “Farabi Uzdіkterі” competition, was held at a high organizational level. The event was aimed at developing the student self-governance system, increasing youth engagement, and strengthening mechanisms of social support for students.
During the official ceremony, the Chairman of the “Sunkar” Student and Master’s Trade Union, Amantai Azamat Kanatuly, delivered a report outlining the organization’s activities over the past 27 years. He highlighted key achievements in providing social support to students, protecting their rights, implementing youth initiatives, and enhancing student life at the university. He also presented the strategic directions and future development plans of the organization.
As part of the event, the results of the “Farabi Uzdіkterі” competition were announced. Winners were determined and awarded in the categories “Farabi Best Student – 2026” and “Farabi Best Student Group – 2026.” The competition is designed to identify outstanding students and student groups distinguished by high academic performance, active civic engagement, and leadership qualities.
In the “Farabi Best Student – 2026” category, first place was awarded to Serikkizy Sabina, a 2nd-year student of the Faculty of Philology. Second place went to Kaliaskarova Aliya, a 1st-year student of the Faculty of Physics and Technology, while third place was awarded to Muratbek Asel, a 1st-year student of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology.
In the “Farabi Best Student Group – 2026” category, first place was awarded to the “Scientific Physics” educational program of the Faculty of Physics and Technology. Second place went to the “Geography” program of the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Sciences, while third place was awarded to the “Digital Economy” program of the Higher School of Economics and Business.
The event was attended by the Deputy Vice-Rector for Sustainable Social Development – Director of the Department of Social and Educational Work, Zh.D. Esimova, who delivered a congratulatory speech. She emphasized the high level of student engagement and highlighted the importance of youth initiatives in the development of the university community.
During the ceremony, active members of the “Sunkar” trade union were awarded certificates of appreciation and “Birge Damushylar” discount cards. Students of the “Leadership Academy” were also awarded the “Sunkar” honorary badges.
This anniversary event became an important milestone in the university’s student life, contributing to the development of student organizations and enhancing youth participation in social activities.
Furthermore, the event aligns with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities, SDG 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals.
