Open Class on “Welcome to Kazakhstan: Legal and Safe Education”

Senior Lecturer of the Department of Plasma Physics, Nanotechnology and Computer Physics, Zhumadilov Rakhymzhan, conducted an open class for 1st–2nd year students of the educational program 6B07107 – “Electric Power Engineering,” studying in English, on the topic “Welcome to Kazakhstan: Legal and Safe Education.”

The main objective of the class was to explain the legal framework of the educational process in the Republic of Kazakhstan, promote an understanding of a safe learning environment, and emphasize the importance of academic culture and responsibility. Special attention was given to supporting the adaptation of international and English-speaking students to the higher education system of Kazakhstan.

During the session, key aspects of the higher education system were discussed, including students’ rights and responsibilities, internal regulations, principles of academic integrity, and safety requirements in the educational process. The role of internal university regulations was also highlighted.

Particular emphasis was placed on developing a culture of safety among students in technical fields, especially in relation to laboratory work, handling equipment, and electrical safety.

The class was conducted in an interactive format, encouraging students to actively participate, ask questions, and discuss real-life scenarios. Issues related to educational legislation, academic ethics, and mutual respect within the university environment were explored.

Special attention was paid to presenting the material in an accessible format for English-speaking students, which contributed to the development of their language skills, professional vocabulary, and successful integration into the international academic environment.

This initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, SDG 4 “Quality Education” supports the development of academic and legal literacy, while SDG 16 “Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions” promotes a culture of legality, academic integrity, and responsible behavior.

As a result of the class, students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of a legal and safe educational environment and recognized the need to responsibly fulfill their rights and obligations. Such activities play a significant role in fostering academic culture, civic responsibility, and professional ethics.
