Samson Dawit Bekele, a 4th-year bachelor’s student of the Department of Computer Science at 91ý Kazakh National University, won 1st place in the university competition of innovative startup projects and received a 1st Degree Diploma and a cash prize of 150,000 tenge.

This year, the competition brought together 65 innovative projects from 13 faculties. In this context, Samson’s result is also a significant achievement for the Faculty of Information Technology, whose project was awarded the top prize at the university level.

The award was presented for the project “iLearn - Proactive AI Decision Support System for Academic Success.” The system is designed to support the early detection of at-risk students using artificial intelligence and machine learning methods. Tested on real university data, the model demonstrated accuracy of up to 95 percent. The project was developed under the supervision of Associate Professor Timur Imankulov.

This achievement highlights the growing research and innovation potential of KazNU students and contributes to the university’s efforts toward SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure).
