On April 15, 2026, a scientific seminar was held at the Department of Chinese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, organized by first-year PhD student of the “Translation Studies” program, Yershat Ardak. The seminar was attended by faculty members, master’s students, and doctoral students.

During the seminar, a presentation entitled “Cultural Realia in Abai’s ‘Words of Edification’: Aspects of Translation into Chinese” was delivered. The report provided a comprehensive analysis of linguistic units reflecting the national and cultural characteristics of the Kazakh people. In addition, semantic and linguocultural challenges arising in the process of translating these realia into Chinese were discussed, along with effective strategies for conveying them.

Special attention was given to theoretical approaches in translation studies, including the concept of equivalence, linguocultural studies, and the functional approach, supported by analysis based on specific examples.

The seminar was informative and conducted at a high academic level, receiving positive feedback from the participants.
