“Movement is Life”: A Sports Event at the Student Dormitory
Creating conditions for students’ comprehensive development, organizing their leisure time effectively, and promoting a healthy lifestyle are among the key priorities of educational and воспитational work in higher education institutions. For this purpose, the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence at 91ý Kazakh National University organized and held a sports event titled “Movement is Life” at Student Dormitory No. 8.
A dormitory is not merely a place of temporary residence for students; it is also an important educational environment that contributes to personal development, the formation of friendships, and the growth of students’ social activity. Therefore, the regular organization of cultural, sports, and intellectual activities plays a significant role in making student life more engaging and meaningful.
Within the framework of the event, competitions in the national intellectual game Togyzkumalak, chess, and volleyball were organized among students. Dormitory residents actively participated in the competitions, creating an atmosphere of cooperation, friendship, and team spirit. Participants demonstrated logical thinking skills, agility, sportsmanship, and teamwork abilities.

As a result of the competitions, winners and prizeholders were determined and awarded incentive prizes and certificates of appreciation. Such recognition increases students’ interest in sports and encourages the development of an active life position.
Sports activities not only enhance educational work within the dormitory but also promote discipline, mutual respect, and collective responsibility among students. Furthermore, competitions help identify talented and active students who may later join university sports teams.
In conclusion, the “Movement is Life” sports event became an effective example of organizing students’ leisure time productively, strengthening their health, and creating a positive psychological atmosphere in the dormitory. Initiatives of this kind increase students’ engagement in university life and contribute to the promotion of a healthy lifestyle among young people.
