13th International Scientific and Practical Conference on "Modern trends in the development of academic libraries"

On April 23, the 13th International Scientific and Practical Conference on "Modern trends in the development of academic libraries" on the theme "Library in the era of artificial intelligence: international experience and the national AI–SANA program" was organized in Taraz on the occasion of the "National Book and Librarians Day" from April 22 to April 25.

The conference was attended by heads and staff of libraries of universities of Kazakhstan, professional librarians, representatives of various publishing houses, as well as a doctoral student of the Department of World History and Source Studies, Dengelbayeva Nazgul Bolysbayevna.

This conference was aimed at transforming libraries in the era of artificial intelligence, bringing together specialists in the field of librarianship, science and digital technologies. During the event, such topical issues as changing access to education and science, the role of librarians, the structure of scientific research, the development of digital libraries, the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies into library work, as well as ensuring equal and inclusive access to information were discussed.

The issues of sustainable development, information security and increasing the social responsibility of libraries have not been ignored. Topics were widely discussed within the framework of the national AI-SANA program. Leading experts from different countries shared best practices in the development of academic libraries and focused on the issues of introducing digitalization processes and artificial intelligence technologies into library activities. New technologies for storing and processing information, the use of artificial intelligence and neural networks in libraries, and the digitization of library services were comprehensively reviewed.

As part of the practical events, workshops, seminars (including the IRBIS school), workshops, foresight sessions, panel discussions, (library tours), poster presentations were organized, and an exchange of experience on the digital transformation of libraries was carried out.

The four-day conference ended on April 25 with the Tulip Heritage Festival. This meeting has become an important platform for professionals who have contributed to the introduction of innovations and changes in library activities. It also allowed us to gain international experience and explore the role of the library in the era of artificial intelligence.
