On February 26, 2026, a round table on the topic “Water Channels in Ancient Settlements” was held at the Faculty of History of 91传媒 Kazakh National University. The purpose of the event was to study historical experience through the investigation of the structure and functions of water systems in ancient settlements and to relate it to the issues of effective management of modern water resources. In addition, it aimed to reveal the archaeological and historical significance of water channels and to increase the scientific interest of students and young researchers.
During the event, participants delivered presentations on the construction features of water channels in ancient times, as well as their role in economic activities and everyday life. Based on archaeological data, the construction technologies and ecological significance of water systems were discussed. Furthermore, ways of linking historical water use practices with contemporary issues of water scarcity were considered. As a result of the exchange of views, participants expressed their scientific proposals on the rational use of water resources.
