Chairman of the Management Board – Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev held a meeting with a delegation from the Beijing Zhongguancun Science City Development and Innovation Company headed by Mr. Pan Jingyu, Director of the China–SCO Cooperation Center for AI Applications. The parties discussed the strategic partnership in the field of high technologies and artificial intelligence.

Welcoming the guests, the head of the university stressed that KazNU is a key platform for scientific diplomacy. "Cooperation between Kazakhstan and China in the field of technology is a tool for building a sustainable future. Our university plays an important role in the development of large language models for the Kazakh–speaking space, which directly contributes to strengthening the country's digital sovereignty",- said the rector.

In his response, the head of the Chinese delegation spoke about the Zhongguancun Scientific City, China's leading innovation cluster, which unites 10,000 high–tech enterprises and 37 leading universities. In turn, the China–SCO Cooperation Center for the Application of AI focuses on the exchange of resources and training. Pan Jingyu expressed great interest in integrating efforts to create joint research centers and platforms for innovation, the use of computing power and scientific data.

During the negotiations, issues of creating "smart" educational systems and actively introducing AI into scientific research and educational practice of the university were also discussed. KazNU is already actively cooperating with 94 organizations in China, including Tsinghua and Beijing universities. The current visit laid the foundation for the establishment of joint scientific laboratories and the implementation of ethical standards for data management within the Zhongguancun ecosystem.
