Maria Sol Dominguez Parrado, Project Officer of the European Executive Agency for Education and Culture (EACEA) and expert of the monitoring group on "Enhancing the potential of higher Education" in Central Asia, paid a visit to Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

During the plenary session, the guests were welcomed by Board Member and ViceRector for Academic Affairs Alina Galeyeva, who emphasized the university's willingness to expand participation in the Erasmus+ program. In her speech, she noted that for the country's leading research university, the partnership with the European Union has become a powerful impetus for deep institutional transformations.

"Our university is one of the leading universities in the region in terms of the number and quality of initiatives being implemented. Our portfolio includes 17 projects under the Erasmus+ program, each of which has contributed to the modernization of the educational environment. It is important to emphasize that actions to increase the potential of higher education have given employees in our region a unique opportunity to develop intercultural competencies through collaboration with colleagues in multi–cdzܲԳٰ consortia",- Alina Galeeva emphasized in her speech.

During the working session, moderated by Kuanysh Tastambek, Director of the Department of Scientific and Innovation Activities, the coordinators of 17 Erasmus+ projects presented the results of implemented and ongoing projects in the field of robotics and space research, information security, computational linguistics, smart cities, medical education, geoinformation technologies, waste management and ecoinformatics.

The guest of honor took part in the opening ceremony of the Laboratory of Digital Innovative Solutions, created within the framework of the GreenTech Horizons Erasmus+ project. During the campus tour, the project officer got acquainted with the key scientific facilities of the university. Among them are the Scientific Center for Sustainable Development, the KazakhChinese Remote Sensing Laboratory and a Supercomputer Cluster, the Farabi HUB Center for Innovative Products and High-tech Projects. Educational laboratories of robotics, chemistry and geospatial technologies were also demonstrated.

The visit ended with meetings with key stakeholders of the program students, staff, representatives of government agencies and private sector organizations.

The monitoring visit confirmed the high level of implementation of European projects at KazNU and opened up new opportunities for strengthening the university's institutional partnership with the European academic community.
