The project of KazNU scientists has successfully passed the state expertise
The scientific project "Development of a regional geoinformation system for monitoring and assessing the explosive potential of the moraine-glacial lakes of the eastern part of the Ile Alatau", implemented at the al-Farabi Kazakh National University, has successfully passed the state monitoring conducted by the National Center for State Scientific and Technical Expertise.
The project is being implemented under the guidance of Assel Abdullayeva, Acting Associate Professor at the Faculty of Geography and Environmental Management.
The experts highly appreciated the calendar plan, the significant scientific results achieved, the international publication activity and the progress of the target indicators of this research work aimed at solving the most pressing problems in the field of ecology, environmental protection and rational use of natural resources.
According to the monitoring results, the high practical value of the project was noted, and therefore it was decided to continue its targeted financing by the state.

To date, KazNU scientists have already created a unique database of moraine-glacial lakes in the eastern part of the Ile Alatau and conducted an in-depth analysis of modern space and aerial photographs to accurately assess the dynamics of reservoirs. In addition, in order to prevent mudflow hazards in the region, modern unmanned aerial vehicles were used to survey the Talgar riverbed and develop a high-precision digital terrain model.
This breakthrough project of KazNU scientists expands the horizons of domestic science and is aimed at preventing natural disasters, as well as ensuring the security of the state.
